Q: What’s your favorite quote/mantra?
Love it. Do what you love and love what you do.
Q: What are your top 3 favorite podcasts/books/blogs to follow?
I have three girls, Kara (2), Kate (3) and Emma (8) – so these days I’m listening to a lot of podcasts and audiobooks. Looking forward to taking an actual paperback book to the beach this summer! A few favorites:
- Up First – Podcast that gives me the top 3 news stories every day in 10 minutes. I stay informed through a variety of sources – one being my husband – he loves to tell me all about what is happening in the world.
- Brené Brown – Currently listening to the Dare to Lead podcast – Conversations with change-catalysts and culture-shifters who are innovating, creating, and daring to lead. Brené Brown tackles tough topics and is inspirational – I enjoy following her stories.
- Rocket Fuel, Scaling Up, and How I Built This (podcast) – We are on an EOS journey, so recently read Rocket Fuel and am currently reading Scaling Up. I also look forward to episodes of How I Built this by Guy Raz. Excited to learn strategies and leverage strengths to grow ResultsLab and make our services more accessible to more social good organizations across the nation.
Q: What is something people in your industry/niche have to deal with that you want to fix?
I have a frame on my desk with this quote inside “Go into the world and do well but more importantly go into the world and do good.” Individuals working in the social sector are doing good and changing the outcomes for the individuals and families in our communities most in need. However, too often these organizations are working with very limited resources and do not have the capacity or skill set needed to embrace data to drive informed decisions and greater impact. Many organizations are collecting a lot of data to meet the requirements of funders, but this data can be distracting, and each funder could be asking for a different set of data which is disruptive. I believe there is an opportunity to shift the power dynamics between funders and nonprofits to provide philanthropic support that is rooted in trust. I believe there is an opportunity to equip nonprofits with the skills needed for operational excellence and to build a culture of learning that leads to community-led social impact.
Q: What are your hobbies?
I have always loved to travel, experience new places and cultures. I enjoy photography and exploring nature – going camping, boating, skiing, and hiking. Capturing the moments and making memories. I hope to get back to doing more hot yoga very soon – it’s hard to get away and relax these days.
Q: Tell us something we don’t know about you.
I’ve traveled to 15 countries and the furthest I’ve traveled was to Bulgaria for a friend’s wedding. Oh, and I have an amendment to my birth certificate – my original name was Jacqueline.
Q: Describe your job in 3 words.
Impactful. Rewarding. Transformational.
Q: What do you appreciate most about working at ResultsLab?
Our team. Hands down. It is wonderful to work with a diverse group of consultants with different experiences and perspectives that are passionate about driving change for good. They are committed to sharing their expertise to equip changemakers with the mindset, skills, and tools needed to drive greater impact and better serve our communities. I also love learning about the many organizations throughout the nation driving change and the impact they have on individuals and families most in need.
Thank you, Jaclyn, for letting us pick your brain and get to know you better. Be on the lookout for our other ResultsLab teammate features in the upcoming months, and be sure to follow us on Facebook and LinkedIn.
